Metro Tasmania · With SOJO
Metro Tasmania: one bus, many everyday journeys
A bus journey can look ordinary from the outside. Inside, it connects school days, appointments, work shifts and the quiet trip home. CoastalGen worked with SOJO on character-led visual production for Metro Tasmania's courtesy campaign, bringing those everyday journeys into a warm, tactile animated world.

The story
Everyday people. A shared journey.
The selected scenes centre on the people who share a bus: a parent and child, a nurse, students, an older passenger and an office worker. Each has a distinct presence, while the shared setting brings their stories together. The driver's perspective adds another view of the journey, with Hobart's waterfront and mountain landscape beyond the cab.
A recognisable place, a human story
Soft, felt-like characters sit within familiar public-transport surroundings. Patterned seats, yellow handrails and views across the River Derwent give the scenes a clear sense of place. A wide view of the Tasman Bridge connects the passengers with the road they share with other travellers.
Closer compositions make room for quieter details: a passenger's handbag, a relaxed expression, a school uniform and the view through a window. The wider passenger scene brings those individual moments into one shared space, giving a broad public message a personal scale.
CoastalGen's contribution
CoastalGen's character-led visual work, created with SOJO, places everyday people at the centre of the story. The selected stills range from passenger portraits and the driver's perspective to a wider bridge scene, united by a distinctive Tasmanian setting.
