TasNetworks · Be Ready

A paper-style world for TasNetworks' Be Ready campaign

A power outage changes the feel of a familiar place. Rooms grow quiet, the weather outside becomes more noticeable, and ordinary household moments take on a different rhythm. For TasNetworks' Be Ready campaign, CoastalGen's animation work centres on making preparedness feel approachable through a recognisable, character-led world.

The story

A practical message, with a human centre.

A familiar setting

The story is grounded in Tasmanian homes and neighbourhoods. Adjoining weatherboard houses establish a sense of place, while recurring characters give the campaign a human centre. These familiar settings support a clear communication objective: helping an important public-information message feel relevant to everyday life.

A distinctive visual identity

Layered scenery and tactile paper-style surfaces give the imagery depth and personality. Deep cobalt and navy tones carry the storm atmosphere, balanced by warm character colours and domestic details.

The scenes share familiar homes, characters and environments, moving between household moments and the wider neighbourhood. The tone is calm, constructive and human, with expressive characters and considered framing bringing warmth to a practical subject.

CoastalGen's contribution

CoastalGen's character animation and visual storytelling support TasNetworks' preparedness messaging. The selected imagery highlights the campaign's paper-style world, its recognisable settings and its focus on people.

The creative objective is clear communication with a distinctive visual identity, attentive to the organisation, the audience and the purpose of the message.
